KENKO SUSHI & TERIYAKI

CLEVELAND

Our Story

Kenko means “Health” in Japanese. With the mission to provide fast and healthy dining options to consumers while furnishing a casual and relaxing atmosphere, the first Kenko Sushi & Teriyaki store opened its door in July of 2015 in University Circle, Cleveland.

Being the owner of a premium Sushi and Hibachi restaurant in Strongsville, Ohio since 2004, one of the co-founders of Kenko, Shenglong Yu, derived the idea of a Chipotle-style sushi bar back in 2008, with the Shinto Jin Teki roll. That idea really ripened and took off after a couple of years. By streamlining the sushi-making steps, customers could get their sushi made in under two minutes from the time they start ordering to leaving the establishment. Based on this concept, Teriyaki and Kung Fu Tea (currently the fastest expanding bubble tea chain in the country if not in the world) were added to the menu with the intention of providing customers with more dining and beverage options, and thus the birth of Kenko Sushi & Teriyaki.
